At A Glance

In just the last 20 years we have more than halved extreme poverty.

  • 20 years ago 42% of the world was living in extreme poverty. Today that's down to around 21%.

Australia's own Aid Effort has wiped out Polio in the Pacific.

  • Through our efforts this crippling disease will no longer disable the people of our region. We should be proud.

We can do our fair share by investing just 70 cents from every $100 into effective aid solutions.

We must find a way to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. We must hold our Government accountable for its promises.

What A Week!

What A Week!

Do you remember these words? "Poverty of course is a crime. Poverty is a discrimination. Poverty is worse than racism. Poverty is a social injustice. Poverty is a prison. Poverty is a destruction of human dignity. Poverty is a condemnation to death. I dream of that time when poverty is ended and I know it will be during my lifetime!"

The Summit: Day 1

The Summit: Day 1

We're nearing the end of one massive week. A massive week of campaigning, a week full of, well lets face it, not much sleep at all. And a week full of the full array of emotions. And with the final hours upon us, the first day of the Summit was amazing.

DAY 3: QLD

DAY 3: QLD

Queensland kicked of a third amazing day in Coffs Harbour. They started off with a round of door knocking at local houses and street campaigning around the centre of town, collecting heaps of petitions and getting lots of support from the locals. A congo line through the main shopping area made sure they got lots of attention both from the public and the media, and helped collect a final load of petition signatures for the day. This was followed by getting a group photo of the group, before heading to a caravan park to relax with a group barbeque.

VICTORIAN ROADTRIP 1

Tuesday was the final day on the ground in local communities, and VIC Roadtrip 1 kicked it off with an energetic aerobics session. Our groups then split on our way towards Bendigo – a whole new community waiting to be reached and engaged.

While one group cooked up a storm in Daylesford, others spread throughout Bendigo – converging at Latrobe Uni, the CBD and many suburbs in between.

Things We Like

In 2010 Australia could finally live up to its commitment to help end global poverty. We've won enormous victories - Australia's aid effort has wiped out polio in the pacific. Since 1990, we've even cut global poverty in half.

Our leaders need to hear loud and clear that Australians want more success. Our goal is to see every Federal politician make a personal commitment on this issue....

Launching at Monash University this year, the Global Change Leadership Program gives you everything you need to make more than just small change.

If you’re a Monash University student with the passion and drive to do more than the standard token responses to the injustices in the world today, then the Global Change Leadership Program is for you.
