About The Roadtrip

Imagine a world free of the injustice of extreme poverty. A world without hunger, fear and needless suffering. A world where tens of thousands of children do not die each day because they lack basic needs. Imagine a world where each person has the opportunity to follow their dreams. A world in which every country takes responsibility for their impact on humanity. We can create this world. It’s in our reach.

In 2007 over 700 young Australians took to the road to help create just this world. The ZEROSEVEN Road Trip made history when it created the public support and political will to increase Australia’s foreign aid from 0.3% to 0.5% of GNI by 2015. This historic increase of over $2.3 billion has brought Australia closer to its promise of 0.7%. But it’s not enough.

In May 2010 you can be part of the 1000 young people who will again embark on a nationwide road trip to help end extreme poverty. We will be leaving from every major city in the country, from the 8th - 15th May, in order to spread the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY message and raise awareness of global poverty. Through flash mobs, meetings with MPs and businesses, speeches at schools, music events and more, we will generate the groundswell of support necessary to achieve real change.

Each road trip will converge on Canberra from the 12th – 14th of May for a 2 day summit that will unite us in a call for action. We will urge individuals, communities and governments to do more to create the world we all want to live in.

The road trip itself will be glorious fun, hard work, tiring, inspiring, enormously challenging and so much more. One thing we can promise is that it will never be dull. Check out this video with some of the highlights from the last time we went on a road trip!
