MAKE POVERTY HISTORY SUMMIT

Join with one thousand young people from across the country at the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Summit in Canberra, as we come together to create the world we want.

Across Australia

As the Road Trip travels across Australia we’ll be calling on the Australian public to unite behind our cry to MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY. Across five days on the road we will collect the voices of over 50,000 Australians, calling on Australia to do its fair share by giving 0.7% of national income towards effective measures to fight poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Will you help unite Australians behind these goals?

The Canberra Summit

We will converge in Canberra from May 12th-15th, uniting young Australians from every state and territory behind the movement to MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY. In Canberra, we will speak directly to those with the power to make a change. Hear directly from political leaders across all parties about how they plan to to MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY and take your chance to meet the likes of:
Bob McMullan MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas Development Assistance
Kate Ellis MP, Minister for Youth
Stephen Smith, Foreign Minister
Malcolm Turnbull, Member for Wentworth

Extreme poverty will not be eradicated overnight – we’re in this for the long haul. That’s why you’ll be hearing from the most inspirational and experienced activists who have been leading the movement to MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY – so that you can learn from the best, and take that learning back to your own community.

You’ll hear from movement leaders the likes of:
Tim Costello, CEO, World Vision and Co-chair of the MPH Coalition
Marc Purcell, Executive Director, Australian Council for International Development (ACFID)
Hugh Evans, CEO, Global Poverty Project and 2004 Young Australian of the Year
Tom O’Connor, CEO, The Oaktree Foundation
Nick Allardice, General Manager, The Oaktree Foundation
Viv Benjamin, MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Roadtrip Director, The Oaktree Foundation
Rev Alistair McCrae, President, Uniting Church Australia
Chris Varney, Australia’s Youth Representative to the United Nations, 2009
Carlyn Chen, Advocacy Director, TEAR Australia

Join us at the Summit over May 13th and 14th.
